The Shed is an old forestry building just as you enter the 800-acre woodlands at Swanton Novers. Part of the woodland is National Nature Reserve and summer home of the rare honey buzzard.

Mighty Oaks' base camp is in a clearing under tall pines.
We've a traditional canvas bell tent with a wooden floor, heated by a woodburning stove.
Outside there's another raised blanket-covered floor area with tarpaulin roof, and a generous fire circle with log seating around. There are trees to clamber and play amongst, a sand pit to dig, and plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.
We use a compost toilet, with handwashing facilities.

Our woodland walk takes us out into an area of mixed woodland and varied terrain around The Shed called 'Poets Wood'. We linger at a pond which is home to kingfishers, dragonflies, herons and three species of newt.

Swanton Novers is just off the B1354 Fakenham to Melton Constable road,
or the B1110 Holt to Guist road.
